BIG CHANGE OF THOUGHT

After running trains on the layout for a few months just to see how things went operationally it became apparent that having hidden staging under the township of Eden Park was not going to work to well.

When i laid the track in the staging area i put in re-railers ever 600mm's for that just in case moment and they did work however if things went really bad as they do when in an area not easily accessible they will happen.

So back to the drawing board with the end result the whole area of Eden Park has been removed and work has begun on relaying the staging tracks as a visible yard with loco depot and a station area with an island platform and if room permits a terminating platform with a 3 road holding area for suburban car sets.

Photos of the track configuration will be posted shortly.

Thanks for ready.

Layout Progress to December 2014

Work has been slow on Eden Park Rail mainly due to health issues but some progress has been made on completing the brick wall that hides the storage tracks under the City of Eden Park.

Above - The view before the brick wall was added.

Above 2 photos show the brick wall fitted. The wall was made from layering .05 styrene sheet with Noch printed prick sheeting allowing it to be sturdy enough but still allows the wall to follow the contour of the upper deck. Note next to the Lenz DCC controller the switch panel for switching trains into the Northern end of the hidden storage there will be a similar panel at the opposite end as well.

Large Strides In Progress

Its been sometime since I last posted, this mainly due to spending considerable time over the summer months working with my other passion the NSW RFS.

Other than this progress has continued to a point of having 95% of track has been layed and the pick up feeders connected to the DCC bus wire. Last we I connected the DCC system (currently a Lenz system that I am thinking of replacing with an NCE System)

As yet I haven't got the camera out to take some shots as I still have tools and other items laying around but stay Posted.

It was very pleasing to see that Auscision Models have kept to there word to produce models of the 46 & 86 class locos only to be topped of by the announcement of the Tangara model. "Now where did I plant that money tree".

What's been going on

Its been quite some time since I have posted any updates to what has been going on. Firstly the layout has been down sized to allow Tiffany's car to fit in the garage and at the same time finding places to store the accumulated models I have including parts and  kits yet to be built.

Now this has been achieved the layout received a new base layer and track laying has started I will post some photos very soon of the progress. Unfortunately my involvement with the Rural Fire Service has kept me away from the layout for the past month so hopefully we might get a quiet couple of weeks that will allow me to get back on schedule.

Cheers for now

Progress so far
Not that long ago I thought I had the layout in good running order, trains were running well the scenery was takeing shape and then I was reminded by the Demestic CEO that the Vice CEO would be learning to drive before the year was out. No problem I thought since building our home the double garage was known as my space.

After suggesting building a carport out front blended in with the roof line of the house etc; and a few other ideas the decree came down you will have to make your model railway smaller so we can fit a car in one side.

So now back to square one how do i cram what i want in half the space i had before and that is where things are at currently. I do hope to be posting updates very soon showing progress of construction.
